We think that Verizon’s official statement was correct and whole situation is a mistake of some third party marketing firm. You should know that Verizon tweaked its privacy policy and now the company has the right to sell your information to the advertisers, including your approximate coordinates, web browsing history and searches, your interest and hobbies. That information is gathered with the help of an A-GPS system that determines your position with GPS module of your smartphone and triangulates your position between closest cell phone towers. In a matter of fact all the information Verizon shares is aggregated and depesonalized. So it is impossible to determine that that this info is yours. The company has announced that privacy policy change and most of the users agreed with those new terms.
